Application Process

The University of Mississippi Medical Center's Department of Pathology participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) and the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We only accept applications through ERAS. The deadline to submit your application for the upcoming academic year is October 1st.

Those who have already completed a year or more of residency training are addressed individually and should contact the program director regarding potential available positions.

Additional Information:

  • Our program welcomes couples match applicants.
  • Transitions into pathology from other specialties are not considered red flags.
  • Our program is IMG-friendly, with several international graduates currently training.
  • No external observerships are offered, but rotation opportunities are available within the institution.
  • Away rotations are supported during elective time.
  • Our program does not currently offer in-house fellowships.

The following required documents are submitted through ERAS:

  • Completed ERAS application form

  • Official medical school transcript
  • Three letters of recommendation (must be current)
  • USMLE or COMLEX scores
  • Personal statement
